Yes, it&#8217;s time for the third installment in my four-part Eastside L.A. midyear band round-up. Due to her full time band&#8217;s activities (new  Amethyst album, tour, etc. &mdash; see The Happy Hollows in my final installment), Pisces is on a temporary hiatus. They play their first show on August 20 at <a href=\"\">Boardners<\/a> in Hollywood. There will also be some West Coast dates with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.overseasband.net\/\">Overseas<\/a> (featuring members of Pedro the Lion, Centromatic and Bedhead) in October.<\/p>\n<p>Brian was also kind enough to make my head swim with various band updates. Instead of making a feeble attempt to unwind this tangled web, I will simply relate this to you here <em>(thanks, Brian!)<\/em>. Brian also holds the distinct honor of being a Boston music scene refugee, having done his time with a stint at Boston College radio, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wzbc.org\">WZBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Paul Larson (former singer\/songwriter of Strictly Ballroom (Sub Pop), The Minor Canon and sometimes-guitarist of DNTEL &#8230; and who has been playing with Strange Parade), also has a great new band called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/georgiasand\">The Georgia Sand<\/a> who played an incredible set at the Radar\/Ola Podrida tour kickoff at the Satellite. Definitely a band to watch for in the coming year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/geronimogetty.com\/\">Geronimo Getty<\/a>, featuring Aaron Kyle (former singer\/songwriter of Le Switch) just finished recording their 2nd album as well. The band also features Seb Bailey (bassist of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/strangeparade\">Strange Parade<\/a>, formerly of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Division-Day\/115453522169\">Division Day<\/a>).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Former <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Movies_(band)\">Movies<\/a> bassist Jessica Gelt and local songstress Emily Wilder have reformed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/wetandreckless\">Wet &amp; Wreckless<\/a> who are back terrorizing and tantalizing the east side scene again with their smart\/sweet, Headcoatees-style garage pop jangle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"360\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2cRWSiMx3f0?feature=player_embedded\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/radarbros.com\/\">web<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/radarbrothers\">facebook<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RadarBros\">twitter<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mergerecords.com\/artists\/radar\">Merge Records<\/a><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"RTTS\">Radars to the Sky<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"\">Radars to the Sky&#8217;s<\/a> last release was <a href=\"http:\/\/radarstothesky.bandcamp.com\/album\/detritus-e-p\">Detritus<\/a> in January of last year. They&#8217;re currently finishing up a new EP, which should be out imminently. I&#8217;ll also mention that Malcolm Sosa (College Kids, Rademacher) played a few shows with them locally, which is pretty darn cool.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/radarstothesky.bandcamp.com\/\">bandcamp<\/a><\/p>\n<h4 id=\"rademacher\">Rademacher<\/h4>\n<p>I&#8217;m not really sure what&#8217;s up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/whoisrad\">Rademacher<\/a>, and that makes me sad. I have yet to see this fine, fine band, so I&#8217;m hoping that if they really have split up, they&#8217;ll consider doing a one-off reunion in Los Angeles between 8\/14 and 8\/26. Just sayin&#8217;. As previously reported, <a href=\"http:\/\/collegekidsonthedopeslope.tumblr.com\">College Kids<\/a> are almost finished with their first EP and Malcolm Sosa is working on some new songs. He did a show from his living room back in April (very cool), which can be seen at Stageit.com. There was recently a mention of &#8220;tracking from home&#8221; at that time. Is there possibly a new album in the works? Late breaking news: He&#8217;s doing a performance with The Night Tide, <a href=\"http:\/\/ularuth.com\/\">Ula Ruth<\/a> and special guests at the <a href=\"http:\/\/websterhall.com\/thestudio\/new\/\">The Marlin Room<\/a> at Webster Hall in New York City on August 16, to benefit the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mauliola.org\/\">Mauli Ola Foundation<\/a>, a charity that teams up with pro surfers who take children with Cystic Fibrosis surfing to help their lungs and raise their spirits.
