East L.A. bands visiting Boston (or thereabouts) in October. (top): The Airborne Toxic Event, The Henry Clay People, Silversun Pickups; (bottom): The Happy Hollows, Sea Wolf, Red Cortez.<\/p><\/div>\n

This is an addendum to my recent Silverlake Band Update<\/a>. Yes, I do realize that most of these upcoming events are in California and this is a Boston blog. I figured I would get everyone really, really familiar<\/em> with all these names so you’ll know who I’m talking about when they do<\/em> come here. Meanwhile, perhaps it’ll serve as some kind of invocation. <\/p>\n

Autolux<\/a><\/strong> are currently recording their new album, Transit Transit<\/em>, which is scheduled for release January 2010. A 7″ with “Transit Transit” and “23 Watt Apple Juice” will available online in a few weeks.<\/p>\n

Castledoor<\/a><\/strong> seem to be recording new songs, judging from their recent tweets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlimart<\/a><\/strong> have apparently just finished recording a new single, available “very very soon”<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Everest<\/a><\/strong> are at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles w\/Dr. Dog on Oct. 6.<\/p>\n

The Eagle Rock Music Festival<\/a><\/strong> is taking place on Saturday, October 3, Eagle Rock, CA. 60 artists are featured; among them, Divisadero<\/a><\/strong> (@ the Swork Pehrspace Periscope stage at 9:00 p.m.), The Pity Party<\/a><\/strong> (@ The Ship Stage at 9:30 pm.), The Happy Hollows<\/a><\/strong> (@ The Ship Stage at 10:30 pm.), Leslie and the Badgers<\/a><\/strong>, No Age<\/a><\/strong>, and Peanut Butter Wolf<\/a><\/strong>. Set times and locations are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Four of the bands I mentioned in my update will be joining Correatown<\/a><\/strong> during their month-long residency at The Echo<\/a>: Eagle and Talon<\/a><\/strong> and The Voyeurs<\/a><\/strong> on Oct. 5; and Summer Darling<\/a><\/strong> and The Rhone Occupation<\/a><\/strong> on October 12.<\/p>\n

The New Noise Santa Barbara Festival<\/a><\/strong> happens Thursday, October 8 – Saturday, October 10. Avi Buffalo<\/a><\/strong> plays at Whiskey Richards on Fri., Oct. 9, and The Happy Hollows<\/a><\/strong> plays at Whiskey Richards on Sat., Oct. 10. Also performing at the festival is Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros<\/a><\/strong>, MURS<\/a><\/strong>, and many others.<\/p>\n

The Happy Hollows<\/a><\/strong> are also playing in Washington D.C. at The Red and the Black on Oct. 16, and at T.T. The Bears in Cambridge, MA on Oct. 18 (I’ll be doing a preview for this show very soon). From there, they now have three performances<\/em> listed for CMJ in New York City, Oct. 20, 22, and 24th. The CMJ site<\/a> will be releasing schedules soon. Then it’s back to Los Angeles for a Spaceland<\/a> residency in November.<\/p>\n

The Airborne Toxic Event<\/a><\/strong> juggernaut is rolling across the U.S. right now, with special guests Red Cortez<\/a><\/strong> (who have a demo of their newest song, “Seasick Brigade”, on Web In Front<\/a>) and The Henry Clay People<\/a><\/strong>. They make a stop in Boston on Tuesday, October 13 at the House of Blues. This morning, Airborne played at a bar at 9am in Kansas City, for a thing called “Kegs & Eggs”. Leave it to Kansas City.<\/p>\n

The Monolators<\/a><\/strong> said in a recent MySpace bulletin that they’re ‘concentrating their energies on out-of-town shows’, so we’ll keep an eye out for future developments.<\/p>\n

The Parson Red Heads<\/a><\/strong> started recording their new album this past weekend at the Red Rockets Glare<\/a> studio in Rancho Park, CA. Cannot wait to see them at Airborne Tox’s show in Clifton Park, NY!<\/p>\n

Sea Wolf<\/a><\/strong> have just been announced as part of the New Moon<\/em> soundtrack<\/a>, alongside artists Thom Yorke, Death Cab For Cutie, Muse and others. Currently on tour, they’re coming to Boston on Oct. 13 at the Paradise (along with Sara Lov<\/a><\/strong> and Port O’Brien<\/a><\/strong>). I’ll do a preview for the show, though it’s the same night as The Airborne Toxic Event et. al. at the House of Blues. Someone should really do something about that!<\/p>\n

Silversun Pickups<\/a><\/strong> are unfortunately not doing a Boston show, but they’re doing shows elsewhere on the East Coast. I’ll try to catch them in Hartford. The shows are: Oct. 17 at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, Providence RI; Oct. 18 at Northern Lights, Clifton Park NY (near Albany); Oct. 20 at The Webster, Hartford CT; Oct. 21 at Higher Ground, Burlington VT; and Oct. 23 at Main Street Armory, Rochester NY.<\/p>\n

The Union Line<\/a><\/strong> will be playing a show at CMJ in NYC – Oct 19 2009, 8:00P at “The Syndacate Party”. Not sure what exactly that is.
