Legendary Boston punk-cabaret duo The Dresden Dolls<\/a> will be performing two very special shows at The Wilbur Theatre<\/a> on Tuesday, Nov. 2 and Wednesday, Nov. 3. On Tuesday, they’ll be performing their debut album “The Dresden Dolls” in its entirety; on Wednesday, their follow-up “Yes, Virginia,” will receive the same honor. Many of the songs haven’t been played live in over 8 years. <\/p>\n

Amanda Palmer (piano, vocals) and Brian Viglione (drums, guitar, bass) first met on Halloween night in 2000 at a party at Palmer’s house, where she was performing her solo songs on piano. Self-described as “Brechtian punk cabaret,” they performed with Nine Inch Nails in 2005, and played at festivals such as South by Southwest, Bonnaroo, Reading & Leeds, and Lollapalooza. Their music features Amanda’s haunting, powerful vocals and often disturbing lyrics. The crisp starkness of the musical accompaniment suits her perfectly. In addition to being riveting in an auditory sense, their live shows have been known to inspire performance art of all sorts, creating a carnival atmosphere.<\/p>\n

This 2-night-stand in Boston is part of a U.S. tour – their first in 3 years – which kicked off on Halloween night in NYC, to mark the band’s 10-year anniversary. These dates will include a stop in New Orleans for a special gulf oil spill relief-benefit for BTNEP<\/a>, an organization that is working to preserve, protect, and restore the Barataria and Terrebonne estuaries of Louisiana.<\/p>\n
