Northampton-based Darlingside<\/a> has a sound seeped in tradition, yet with a spritely pop momentum. Cello, violin, acoustic and bass guitar blend together elegantly, with crisp front-and-center percussion driving it forward, and soulful, impassioned vocals that break out into glorious 5-part harmony. Featured at times are are violin and cello duets; mandolin and pennywhistle add to the traditional and timeless feel. <\/p>\n

Darlingside has shared stages with Guster, Nada Surf, David Wax Museum and others, and have performed up and down the East Coast – over 100 shows last year. Their musical backgrounds include classical cello; an interest in the traditional music of Brazil, Turkey and Ireland; a drumming style influenced by jazz, funk, hip-hop, and rock; and time spent in an acappella group. They recently released their debut 6-track, self-produced EP<\/a>, and will be recording their first full-length album in May.<\/p>\n
